USF Takes on West Virginia

The 17th ranked USF men's soccer team, 4-2-1, heads on the road to open up Big East play as they take on WVU at 3:30 PM on Sunday afternoon.

WVU is 4-2-1 on the season as well, posting a 3-0 record at home, so the Bulls are facing a tough challenge as they begin conference play.

WVU is led by freshman forward Andy Bevin (5-9 160-pounds). Bevin has 5 goals on the season, including 1 assist and has taken 14 shots. (youth leading the way here). Junior forward Peabo Due (5-10 170-pounds) has 2 goals and 2 assists on the season (adding veteran leadership to the field with the freshman Bevin).

Junior midfielder Shadow Sebele (5-9 144-pounds) has 2 goals and 4 assists on the season (taken 21 shots, continues to fire away). Junior defender Eric Schoenle (6-1 147-pounds) has 1 goal and 2 assists. Senior forward Uzi Tayou (6-2 190-pounds) has 1 goal on 3 shots this season.

The Mountaineers are a bit unsettled in the net. Junior Justin Holmes (6-3) has allowed 2 goals on the season (.62 goals per game) while making 14 saves (.875%). He has a 2-0-1 record including one shut out win in the process. Junior Pat Eavenson (6-2 180-pounds) is the other goalie. He has allowed 6 goals against him (1.50 goals per game) and has made just 8 saves (.571%) (has one shut out win though). Expect to see Holmes in the net for this game.

This is a real measuring test for the Bulls as they try to begin the Big East schedule with a huge road win and remain in the top level of the Red Division. The team has had a few rough games, tying and dropping a few, this is a prime chance for them to get a big win.
