USF Volleyball Takes on Wisconsin

The ladies take their 4-game winning streak on the road to take on Wisconsin.
After winning 4 straight games and winning the UCF Invitational Tournament, the USF ladies head to Wisconsin to take on the Badgers in the first round of the Wisconsin Tinntower Challenge (game starts at 7 PM).

USF (4-5) has been playing their best ball of the season and seem to be in a groove right now. J'beria Davis, Valerie El Houssine, Andrea Rodriguez Gomez, and Janice Rivera are playing at a very high level and will need to lead the way again to keep the winning streak going and get back to .500 on the season. Here are the players on the Wisconsin team the Bulls will face in the first round.

Wisconsin is 6-3 on the season and playing at home (although listed as a neutral court) so the home crowd will be behind them (didn't help UCF last week).

Sophomore middle-blocker Dominique Thompson (6-0) has 51 kills on the season and 10 digs. Senior setter Janelle Gabrielsen (6-1) has 167 sets on the year (patrols the middle of the court) along with 73 digs, so the Badger offense runs through her.

Junior middle-blocker Alexis Mitchell (6-1) has 57 kills and 30 blocks on the season. Freshman outside hitter/setter Courtney Thomas (6-0) has 59 kills along with 194 sets and 57 digs, showing the big time ability of the young freshman. Freshman outside-hitter Crystal Graff (6-3) has 85 kills and 77 digs (another big time young player). Freshman outside hitter Ellen Chapman (6-4) has 55 digs and 26 digs on the year as well.

So what can we expect in this game? The Bulls have a lot of work in front of them with a solid Wisconsin club playing on their own home court, but the ladies have proven they are very resilient and will do everything they can in this match to get the big upset win on the road.
