Griffin Injured, Could Be Out for a Few Weeks or Longer

From Greg Auman - As if the loss to Cincinnati was tough enough, the Bulls might have lost their best receiver for the rest of season (at least a couple weeks).

Sophomore wide receiver Sterling Griffin left the game on Saturday with a sprained right ankle, but there is fear there could also be a break in the bone as well. This is the same ankle Griffin injured in the Summer of 2010, forcing him to miss the entire season. Doctor's are still awaiting the MRI results, but it is very doubtful Griffin will be available for the next game (in two weeks).
Griffin leads the team with 40 catches and 493 yards, becoming the top target in the passing game, so losing him is a huge blow to the offense.
USF receiver Sterling Griffin, who has emerged as the Bulls' top receiver this season, sprained his ankle in Saturday's loss to Cincinnati and is out at least "a couple of weeks," with trainers waiting for a result of an MRI exam Monday to know the full extent of the injury.
With Griffin out for at least a few weeks, other receivers will be pressed into more duty. Deonte Welch and Andre Davis have both emerged as solid receivers, but will be counted on more with Griffin injured. Getting Terrence Mitchell back on the field will also help (still undergoing the concussion tests), but losing Griffin is going to be rough on the team.

We hope he recovers fast and gets back on the field, the Bulls need him!

  2. Won't be able to tell at this point until the MRI results come out. Hoping just a sprain for now, he will miss a few weeks to start, not sure if they could get a redshirt after playing half a season already.
