The series continues this week as we break down the 2011-2012 men's basketball roster, getting you prepared for the big season ahead. This time we come to a player that will make a big impact this season in his first year, guard Blake Nash. Nash is one of the top junior college players and will play a key role from the start for Coach Heath.
Blake Nash - 6'0" 185-pounds - Sophomore - Guard
Nash comes to USF from Williston State where he made a name for himself in his freshman season. While there, he averaged 22.3 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game, and 4.5 assists per game. He shot 55% from the field and 42% from three point range. He was named a JUCO All American in his freshman season and will make a huge impact in just his first season as USF.
Nash brings an aggressive style to the USF back court, something that was lacking last season. Nash will battle for the starting point guard spot and if he wins it (he should) he can help the offense like Heath has not seen in the past few seasons. Nash can deal out assists and plays great defense, but his ability to create his own shot and score adds a new dimension to the team, another scoring threat. The Bulls lacked this with Crater last season and if he can run the offense and score, he will be a huge upgrade at the point.
We are very high on Nash and are expecting a huge season from him. If he starts or comes off the bench, expect a huge year and great highlights from this young man.
