The series rolls on as we take a look at sophomore guard LaVonte Dority. Dority came off the bench only a few times last season with Anthony Crater running the show for most of the season. But now that he is gone, Dority will have a chance to compete for playing time.
LaVonte Dority - 6-1 195-pounds - Sophomore - Guard
Dority didn't play much last season. He averaged just .7 points per game, .3 rebounds per game, and played an average of just 5.7 minutes per game. Dority appears to have a lot of athletic ability, but hasn't gotten much of a chance to show his ability. He ran the point when Crater was injured for a brief period of time, but did not look that effective at the time.
The battle for the starting point guard spot is up in the air still. Blake Nash and Anthony Collins would appear to be the front runners, but don't count out Dority. He understands the offense, has been with Heath for a full season, and could win the job over if he can prove himself on the court. We will have to see how much playing time he gets this season.
