USF Men's Soccer Takes on St. John's

USF men's soccer, fresh off of a big road win at FGCU, returns home to host 8th ranked St. John's in a huge match-up at Corbett Stadium.

USF at 6-2-2 (1-0-1) sits in first place in the Red Division, but St. John's (SJU) 7-2-2 (1-1-0) sits right behind them in second place, so the Bulls are in for a huge challenge in this game (SJU is 3-1 away from home this season as well)(game starts at 8PM).

SJU is led by junior midfielder Jack Bennett (5-8 145-pounds). He leads the team with 5 goals and has taken 30 shots thus far. Sophomore midfielder Adrian L'Esperance (5-9 165-pounds) has 2 goals and 2 assists on the season. Senior forward Walter Hines (5-7 140-pounds) has 2 goals and 1 assist. Sophomore midfielder Jimmy Mulligan (5-7 145-pounds) has 3 assists this season (spreading the ball around) and has taken 24 shots (setting up teammates). Senior midfielder Chris Lebo (5-9 145-pounds) has 3 assists as well (taken 7 shots). Overall, SJU has a solid scoring team but also plays outstanding defense. Dom Dwyer and crew will have their work cut out for them.

Sophomore goalkeeper Rafael Diaz (6-0 160-pounds) has only allowed 8 goals this season (.76 per game on average) and has made 27 saves (.771). Diaz is a great goalkeeper, totaling 7 shutouts wins this season. The USF front line of Dwyer, Paul, and others will have to work hard just to get scoring chances and against this goalkeeper, scoring will be at a premium.

We encourage everyone to get to Corbett field to fill the stands and cheer the team to victory. Weather may be a factor during the game (hearing 60% chance of rain during the day) but don't let that stop you from enjoying another Bulls victory.
