USF Soccer Takes on Cincinnati

The USF Bulls are ranked 6th in the country and are playing the last regular season at home tonight (game starts at 7:30 PM). The Bulls enter the night 11-2-2 (6-0-1) and are hoping to protect home field at Corbett against the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Cincinnati enters the night 5-10-1 (1-6-0) and 1-5-0 away from home, so the home field, senior night, and aggressive attack of USF will be on display in this game.

The Bearcats are led by freshman forward Cole DeNormandie (6-0 180-pounds). He leads the team with 7 goals and has taken 25 shots on the night. Junior midfielder Shamar Shelton (5-8 145-pounds) has 2 goals and 3 assists on the night. He has taken 45 shots, the most aggressive striker for Cincinnati.

Junior forward Leon Powell (5-11 174-pounds) has 2 goals and an assist this season. Senior midfielder D.J. Albert (6-0 175-pounds) has 2 goals and another assist. Freshman midfielder Emmanuel Appiah (5-9 160-pounds) has 1 goal and 3 assists on the year (setting up his teammates more than anything). Freshman midfielder Will Diebold (5-9 165-pounds0 has 1 goal and 2 assists. Senior defender Sam Klosterman (6-0 195-pounds) has 1 goal and 2 assists.

Junior goalkeeper Joey Barnard (6-2 175-pounds) has allowed 18 goals on the season (1.37 goals per game) and has stopped 46 shots on the year (.719). He is a solid goalkeeper, but facing the scoring attack of Dom Dwyer will prove to be a real challenge for the Bearcats.

USF should win this game, they are better than Cincinnati, are playing at home and are playing on senior night. They will battle for this win, but should come away with a Big East win and continue their pursuit of the Big East tournament and into the NCAA tournament.
