USF Basketball Wins Exhibition Over UT

As the football teams was losing it's 4th straight game, the basketball team was fine tuning in preparation for the regular season with a win over UT 75 to 43. The Bulls dominated the game from the start and got to see a few new faces make an impact.

Ron Anderson Jr. had 11 points and 5 rebounds, getting the start on the night. Newcomer Victor Rudd had 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists in his first action as a Bull. He looked impressive, hitting two 3-pointers, and play well on the wing. A lot is expected of him and a strong showing like this is a good start. Augustus Gilchrist led the way with 21 points and 3 rebounds. LaVonte Dority, who started at point guard, had 4 points and 5 assists. Shaun Noriega, also started, and 11 points.

Newcomer Blake Nash had 4 points and 2 rebounds in limited action. Toarlyn Fitzpatrick had 8 points and led the team with 11 rebounds. Hugh Robertson had 4 points and 5 rebounds.

The offense was clicking, hitting 53.8% of their shots, although against a DII opponent (not a UCONN type defense). There was one bad note from the game. The Bulls shot just 46.9% from the free throw line (15 for 32) something they have to improve on this season.

This is a great win for the team as they get healthy and prepare for the regular season opener against Vermont on Saturday night at 7PM!!
