B.J. Daniels gets injured as the Bulls lose an ugly game to Miami. (Picture: Getty Images) |
This game was tough. The defense played their hearts out in the game, allowing some yardage, but came up with 6 sacks on Jacory Harris and stopped them for the entire game until the final drive. Miami was able to drive down the field, taking time off the clock and winning the game in the last few seconds.
The USF offense failed to show up. The game started with an interception from Daniels and after that was able to do nothing. They had a few promising drives, getting a first down here and there, but failed to get into the redzone when they started to get closer. Failed runs and bad passes killed the offense. Daniels went down late in the game with a shoulder injury, sending Bobby Eveld into the game. Eveld made a few passes, but could not make a few throws down the field (can we blame the coaching staff about their decision making?) With Daniels out, the Bulls running game was bottled up, no fear from Miami and the zone-read without Daniels out there. This game was just soul crushing to watch.
The Bulls just could get nothing done on offense. The Bulls were bad to start the game, but when Daniels went out it was even worse. Eveld, whether by the coaching staff failing to make the right calls or the inability of anyone on the unit to do anything, failed to their job in the game. This was bad, real bad. The 5th loss hurts more than the others, especially with recruiting and in-state bragging rights. Now USF will have to search for answers. We will have the full recap with the stats tomorrow, for now, we will try to mentally figure this game out.
