The Bulls, 2-0, are looking to stay undefeated as they change venues for game three. The third game of the season will take place in the Lakeland Center (game starts at 7PM) as the Bulls welcome D2 opponent Florida Southern.
The Mocs finished the 2010-2011 season with a record of 23-9. They dropped their first exhibition game to Miami 78 to 88, but put a scare into the Hurricanes.
The Mocs run a three guard, two forward set, so the Bulls will have to deal with a smaller, fast lineup. USF has the size advantage inside, however, so look for Gilchrist, Rudd, and Anderson and take advantage of it.
Junior guard/forward Garrett Putman (6-6 190-pounds) had 8 points and 7 rebounds in the exhibition loss to Miami, crashing the boards for them. Junior forward Brett Bailey (6-6 225-pounds) had 10 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Freshman guard Kevin Capers (6-1 150-pounds) had 13 points and 3 assists in his first collegiate action (Dority and Nash have to stop him). Sophomore guard Dominic Lane (6-2 180-pounds) had 13 points and 7 rebounds. Junior guard Seth Evans (6-0 180-pounds) had 6 points and 4 assists, leading the offense. Look out for freshman guard Cameron Vines (6-4 185-pounds) who had 19 points and 4 rebounds coming off the bench. At 6-4, he gives the Mocs great size and athletic ability and could be a match-up issue for the USF guards.
The Bulls were held in check early in the Marist game, but were able to open it up late. Gilchrist had a double-double, Nash/Dority ran the point well, and Rudd went off for 30-points, so if the Bulls can get a similar performance, they should come away with a win.
Look for Anthony Collins, who has been out with a slight hamstring strain, to be available off the bench.
