The Bulls (1-0) take on Marist in the second game of the season. This game will be played at the St. Pete Times Forum (game starts at 7PM).
Marist lost their opener with a beat down at Kentucky, losing 108 to 58, not the best way to start the season. Marist is looking to improve on their 6-27 season from last year, especially there 1-15 road mark. This will be the first game for the Bulls at the Forum for their home schedule, so it will be interesting to see how they handle the new surrounding and come out in this game.
Marist is led by junior guard/forward Dorvell Carter (6-6 200-pounds). He averaged 7.7 points a game last season and had a great first game going 4-12 for 12 points and pulled down 4 rebounds. He will be a factor inside against Anderson and Gilchrist. Junior guard Devin Price (6-1 170-pounds) has 3 points and 2 assists in the loss to Kentucky. He averaged 7.2 points a game last season and 2.8 assists per game. Sophomore guard/forward Kay Bowie (6-5 210-pounds) had 8 points and 6 rebounds in the loss. Being 6-5 gives him great size inside, but also a mismatch in the guard position for someone to guard.
Freshman guard Isaiah Morton (5-8 170-pounds) went 6 for 11 getting 13 points in his first game, so look for him in make a huge impact off the wing. Sophomore forward Adam Kemp (6-10 235-pounds) is a big force in the paint. He had 2 points and 5 rebounds in the last game, but look for him to battle the USF big men for rebounds.
Anderson had a strong game in the first season. Gilchrist got his points, but will have to get better with his field goal percentage. Dority had 6 assists in the first game and did a great job running the offense, he needs to do it again to help run the offense. Fitzpatrick will be ready to play (suspended for the first game of the season) and look for Nash to get more going on offense.
