USF WBB Takes on Minnesota

The USF ladies take on Minnesota in the final game of the WBI Tip-off Tournament in Daytona Beach (game is scheduled for 4:30PM again). USF dropped the second game yesterday after leading the first half and battling into overtime. Turnovers and bad shooting are hurting the ladies right now as they try to salvage a win on the road (0-2 to start).

The Golden Gophers are 1-1 on the season after dropping their last game to FSU (Noles are pretty good). The Gophers have solid guard play and will be a tough match-up for the Bulls.

Minnesota is led by explosive freshman guard Rachel Banham (5-9). She had 10 points (4 of 16 shooting), 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. She is not afraid to fire away from the field, so USF will have to get pressure on her and cause her to pass the ball up. Sophomore guard/forward Kionna Kellogg (6-1) had 2 points and 2 rebounds, so she will try to bounce back in the game. Junior guard Leah Cotton (5-8) had 4 points, but is always a threat. Junior forward Katie Loberg (6-4) had 11 points and 6 rebounds as well, doing work both on the boards and adding some offense.

Look for Andrell Smith and Kaneisha Saunders to lead the day again in scoring. Caitlin Rowe is doing a great job in the paint, but the other players have to step up.
