USF WBB Takes on Stetson

The USF ladies, going 1-1 on their road trip to Alaska (4-3 on the season) are back home as they host Stetson in a key in-state battle. The Hatters are 5-1 on the season and are looking for a key win over the Bulls. USF has a size advantage inside, but will need their guards to come up big for them if they want to get the win in this game.

The Hatters are led by their guards, but will face the tough athletic guards of the Bulls. Junior guard Victoria McGowan (5-4) is averaging 15.7 points a game, 5.7 rebounds a game, and 3.8 assists a game. At 5-4, she is undersized, so the Bulls will have to use their size against her to keep her from scoring. Junior guard Shanasa Sanders (5-7) is averaging 13.7 points a game and 4.2 rebounds a game.

Sophomore Sasha Sims (6-0) is averaging 10.5 points a game and 8.2 rebounds a game. Freshman forward (5-10) is averaging 9.3 points a game and 3.7 rebounds a game. The Bulls with Rowe and McDonald have a big time size advantage in the post, so look for the rebounding battle to go to the Bulls and keep the Hatters off the glass and only to one shot. Freshman guard Clariss Goddington (5-10) is averaging 3.7 points a game and 1.7 rebounds a game. Watch out for freshman forward Jasmin Garcia (5-10) who is averaging 6.2 points a game and 3.2 rebounds a game off the bench.

The Bulls were beaten down in their last game with Miami at the Great Alaska Shootout, but now that they are back home, they will be ready for the game. The ladies need to get production out of their guards in order to be successful. Kaneisha Saunders was in foul trouble in the last game, so she will need to be more disciplined in the game and come up big on both ends of the court. USF has the size advantage in the paint, so look for the Bulls to attack the paint with their size and try to get another big win.
