Five Days of Christmas: Day 5

Christmas is only a few days away and as we grab last minute gifts for our friends and family, it's time to take a minute and look at the gifts USF athletics has given us this year.  There have been a lot of great moments from the year, so let's see what they are as we break down the top five gifts from USF this season.

Number 5 - Softball season

The USF softball team began the 2011 season with some low expectations as Coach Ken Eriksen led his young team onto the field, but they surprised us all with a huge season.   A 33-21 record got the fans excited for the team as they battled their way to the upper reaches of the Big East conference.  Key players like Gina Kafalas, Ashli Goff, Janine Richardson, and young freshmen like star pitcher Sara Nevins burst onto the scene and return for the 2012 season.

The Bulls are once again poised for a huge season in 2012 and can look back at the 2011 season as the starting point, the building block for the bright future ahead for the team and the program in general.  So as a USF fan, we can look back at the softball team and be pleased with what we saw from the young team.  It was a nice present this year when we were disappointed with the baseball team, so there is gift number 5 to the USF fans that athletics gave us this season.
