Darrell Scott Invited to NFL Combine

Ever since his high school days, Darrell Scott has had pro prospects. As a kid at St. Bonaventure High School in California, he was rated the #1 recruit of his class. Writers referred to him as "The next LaDanian Tomlinson", and he was just 17. Out of high school, Scott comnitted to play for Colorado, where he saw very little playing time for the top player in the country.

His time at Colorado came to an early end, and he decided to transfer to his first home in Tampa to play for USF. After a year of sitting out, Scott finally got his chance to show what he can do. Immediately Scott reverted back to the style of play that got him rated so high as a kid.

Scott played just one season with USF, so there's limited information for NFL teams to know just how good he is, but the style of play he has is ideal for a run-based football team. He has a good deal of speed for someone his size, but what is really going to turn the heads of NFL scouts is his power. Throughout the season USF fans have watched Scott burst through seams in the line and break a bunch of tackles, sometimes dragging half the defense with him.

Historically run-oriented offenses with big, strong running backs like the Jets and the Bears are likely going to take a look at Scott to come in to be their next great back. Some experienced RBs of similar style, like Cedric Benson, Kevin Faulk, and yes, LaDanian Tomlinson, may be on their way out the door within the next few years, and their respective teams will be looking to both fill the void and have theil veterans teach their wisdom. And it's no question, he's an NFL kind of guy.
