USF 2012 Baseball: Matt Reed

Matt Reed - 6-3 210-pounds - LHP - Senior

Reed returns for his senior season and will be a huge part of the rotation for the Bulls this season as Prado looks as the Bulls look for solid arms with several players coming off of surgeries (such as Barbosa from last season)

Reed finished the 2011 season with a 5-4 record in 15 appearances, ending the year with a 4.11 ERA.  He pitched 65.2 innings, allowing 64 hits, while walking 28 and striking out 21, allowing opponents to hit .263 against him.  Reed is not an overpowering pitcher, but sets up hitters well with his off speed pitches and is able to neutralize batting orders..

In 2010, he finished with a 1-0 record in 7 appearances, including a 6.91 ERA (so the numbers have gotten better for him as the pitch load as increased for him).  He worked 14.1 innings, allowing 13 hits, walking 6 and striking out 4, allowing opponents to hit .245 on the season.

Reed will need to have another big season to help anchor the pitching rotation as the Bulls look to find the arms that will lead them this season.
