USF Baseball Falls 1 to 9 to UNF

The USF baseball team's bats were silenced tonight as they fall 1 to 9 to UNF and drop their first game of the year (3-1) as they opened their home slate.

Kyle Parker went just 3.2 innings, allowing 7 hits, 4 runs, walking 2, and struck out 2. batters.  Austin Adams had a huge night, going 1.2 innings and striking out 5 batters (allowed just one hit).  Mike Clarkson went 1 inning, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, and walked one (pitching just couldn't get the job done tonight).  Nick Gonzalez went 2.2 innings allowing 6 hits, 2 runs, and struck out one batter.  The pitching and fielding struggled tonight as the Bulls could not gain any ground after UNF pounced on them early.

Buddy Putnam went 1 for 4 with a run scored.  Andrew Longley went 1 for 4, driving in the lone run on the night for USF as the bats went cold at the wrong time.

The Bulls need to put this game behind them fast.  The offense was cold tonight and has to get going soon to help support the pitching staff.  The Bulls open a 3-game series against Bethune-Cookman on Friday night and will need to play better than this if they want to take a few games.
