The USF Bulls, 3-0, return to campus to play their first game at home of 2012 as they take on North Florida (game starts at 7PM). North Florida is 1-2 on the season, dropping their last game to Southern Illinois 12 to 16. USF will need to continue their great starting pitching and timely hitting if they want to get a big win here.
UNF lost their one game to USF last year 1 to 4 and finished the 2011 season at 27-27 (14-14 away from home) so this is going to be a close game.
UNF is led by freshman 3rd baseman/outfielder Drew Weeks (5-11 175-pounds) who is hitting .417 with one double to start the season. Junior catcher Corey Bass (5-9 195-pounds) is hitting .267 with 1 home run and 3 RBIs to start the season. Junior second baseman Joe Wielbruda (5-10 180-pounds) is hitting .182 with 2 RBIs to start the year. Senior short stop Andrew Karmeris (6-2 245-pounds) is hitting .273 with 2 RBIs to begin the UNF season. Sophomore right fielder Tyler Marineov (6-2 205-pounds) is hitting .364 with 1 home run and 3 RBIs to start the season as well.
The pitching staff is led by sophomore RHP Tyler Moore (6-2 185-pounds). He has worked 4.2 innings to start the year, allowing 3 hits, 1 walk, and has struck out 8 batters. Senior RHP Chandler Jagodzinski (5-10 175-pounds) has 1 save on the season after working 2.1 innings, allowing 2 hits, 1 walk and struck out 1 batter (had 4 saves last season, so a key member of the bullpen in late game situations). Senior Andrew Kameris has worked .2 innings, striking out both batters.
This is a huge game for USF. After sweeping the Big Ten/Big East Challenge, the Bulls get a chance to play a winnable game at home and need to come out and dominate this game.
