USF Softball Drops Extra Inning Game to the Gators, 2 to 3

The USF Bulls battled hard against the tough 2nd ranked Gators, falling in extra innings 2 to 3.  The Bulls, now 3-1 to start the season, were tied late in the game before the Gators hit a two-run home run against Nevins to take the lead.  A late RBI from Gina Kafalas, who went 2 for 4 in the game, got them close, but the ladies couldn't get another hit.

Nevins pitched well in the game.  Going 7.1 innings, allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, walking 4 and striking out 3 (now 0-1).  Sam Greiner came into the game to finish out the top of the 8th inning for the Bulls.  Janine Richardson went 1 for 2 on the day and drew two walks.  Laura Fountain went 1 for 3 with an RBI double as well.

The Bulls are out to a great start.  They pushed an elite team to the breaking point and took care of the other teams.  They will return to action on Friday night as they take on Drake in the USF Invitational (game starts at 4:45PM)
