USF Softball Takes on Georgia Southern

The USF Bulls, are back in action as they wrap up their final day of the USF Invitational Tournament.  The Bulls are 5-1 on the season after taking down Wisconsin and Arkansas.  They will be taking on Georgia Southern (5-4) in the finale (game slated to start at 1PM, weather permitting).

The Eagles are led by senior infielder/outfielder Marie Fogle (5-5) is hitting .357 on the season with 3 RBIs.  Junior infielder/outfielder Andrea Tarashak (5-1) is hitting .385 on the season with 6 doubles and has driven in 8 runs.  Senior catcher Mackenzie Williams (5-5) is hitting .321 with 1 home run and 3 RBI.  Junior infielder Tabby Douberley (5-8) is hitting .269 with 2 home runs and 8 RBIs.  Freshman infielder Lexi Allen (5-7) is hitting .286 with 1 RBI.  Senior infielder/outfielder Jorie Walker (5-6) is hitting .241 with 1 RBI as well to start the season.

The Eagle pitching staff is led by sophomore RHP Sarah Purvis (5-7) is 2-2 on the season with a 1.21 ERA on the year.  She has pitched 29 innings, allowing 16 hits, 14 walks, 29 strike outs and is holding opponents to a .165 batting average.  Freshman RHP Brooke Red (6-0) is 2-0 on the season with a .62 ERA.  She has pitched 22.2 innings, allowing 12 hits, 3 runs, 4 walks, and has struck out 11 batters. 

The Bulls have the deeper bench and strong pitching staff in this game.  After a strong weekend against solid ballclubs, the Bulls will need to end the weekend on a high note and have a great chance to close it out with a huge win.
