USF Softball Sweeps Wisconsin and Arkansas

After being rained out the other day (missing the game against Drake) the Bulls returned to action in a key double header against Wisconsin and Arkansas.

The ladies dominated their first game against Wisconsin, beating them 5 to 0.  Janine Richardson had 2 for 3.  Kourtney Salvarola was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Jessica Mouse was 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Kenshyra Jackson was 1 for 1 with an RBI.  Stephanie Medina was 1 for 3 with an RBI as well.  The ladies had a strong pitching performance as well.  Sam Greiner started the game, working 2.1 innings, allowing 2 hits, walking 3 and struck out 2.  Lindsey Richardson went 4.2 innings, allowing 1 hit and struck out 6 as she improves to 2-0 on the season.  This was a great start to the day for the ladies as they came out strong and got the big win to open the day.

In the second game of the day, the Bulls took on the lady Razorbacks and battled to an epic win at the end, 7 to 6!

Gina Kafalas was 1 for 4.  Stephanie Medina was 3 for 4 in the game.  Kourtney Salvarola was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI as she continues her incredible start to the season.  Kenshyra Jackson was 1 for 4, but had the walk off RBI double at the end of the game to help lead the Bulls to the sweep of the day and to a 5-1 record.

The USF pitching staff was at its best in this game as Coach Eriksen called upon all 4 pitchers.  Sarah Nevins started the game, working 4.1 innings, allowing 7 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and struck out 5 as she worked up a high pitch count early.  Brittany Bowles came in, after warming up all day, and allowed one walk.  Sam Greiner came in, working 2.1 innings, allowing 3 hits, 3 runs, walking 1 batter and struck out 5.  Lindsey Richardson took care of the last batter.

USF is now 5-1 to start the season, a huge step for the ladies as they begin the season with impressive wins (always chasing that NCAA tournament this year).  USF will face Georgia Southern tomorrow at 1PM.
