USF WBB Takes on Villanova

The USF ladies, now 12-13 (4-7) on the season are back at home as they face Villanova at the Rec Center (game scheduled to start at 7PM).  Nova is 15-9 (5-6) on the season, but just 6-7 away from home.  The Wildcats are one of the best defensive teams in the league, allowing just 54 points per game, so the Bulls will find themselves in a defensive struggle from start to finish (ladies will be without Jasmine Wynne once again as she recovers from her concussion).

Nova is led by junior forward Laura Sweeney (6-2).  She averages 15.2 points per game (only player averaging in double figures) while shooting 49%.  She averages 8 rebounds a game, has 29 blocks, and 37 steals as well.  Junior guard Rachel Roberts (5-9) is averaging 8.8 points per game and 3.9 rebounds per game. Freshman forward Lauren Burford (6-0) is averaging8.9 points per game 1.8 rebounds per game.

Senior guard/forward Lindsay Kimmel (6-0) is averaging 3.3 points per game and 2.2 rebounds per game.  Junior guard Jesse Carey (5-10) is averaging 1.2 points per game and 2 rebounds per game to round out the starting lineup, but the Wildcats have a strong bench.

Sophomore guard Devon Kane (5-9) is averaging 6.9 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game.  Junior forward Megan Pearson (6-0) is averaging 5.7 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, and leads the team with 63 assists on the season. Freshman forward/center Emily Leer (6-2) is averaging 5 points per game and 1.7 rebounds per game as well.

The Bulls really need a win.  Without Wynne and Stringfield in the last game, the offense went cold in the second half.  Both could return, but that has been made official yet.  The other stars, such as Orekhova, Rowe, Bernard, and Smith, all have to raise their games in order to rally for a win.
