After having one game canceled on today's schedule (vs. Illinois State) the Bulls came out strong against Maine as they won 10 to 2 in 5 innings. Lindsey Richardson pitched well in her second start, working all 5 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 runs, walking 2 and striking out 5 batters to improve to 1-0 on the year.
The offense came to life early in the game as the Bulls put up a 4 spot in the bottom of the first inning. Stephanie Medina was 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs on the day (they need to get her bat going). Kourtney Salvarola was 0 for 2 but drove in an RBI with a sac fly. Kenshyra Jackson was 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Jessica Mouse was 2 for 3. Janine Richardson was 2 for 3 including a 2 run home-run to help win the game early for the Bulls.
The Bulls are off to a 3-0 start on the season, getting strong hitting and great pitching. They will face a huge challenge tomorrow at 1:30PM as they take on the 2/4 ranked Gators of Florida. The first 100 students at the game will get free food too (according to USF Softball) so make sure to get to the stadium, despite the cold weather expected and cheer them on as they battle a tough foe early in the season.
Should be a blast!! Hope to have a lot of Bulls there!!
