USF WBB Takes on WVU

The USF ladies, 12-10 (4-4), take on the Mountaineers of WVU as they come to the Rec Center. WVU enters the night with a 15-6 (5-3) record, but they are just 2-4 on the road this season.

WVU is averaging 67.1 points per game, but only allow with 49 points per game, getting after opponents on defense. They only allow 24% from 3-point range, so Orekhova and the USF offensive game from deep range will have a battle on their hands in this game.

WVU is led by sophomore guard Taylor Palmer (5-9). She is averaging 13.2 points per game, 2.9 rebounds per game and has 19 steals on the season. Junior center Asya Bussie (6-4) is averaging 11.7 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, and has 54 blocks on the season, so look for her to dominate the paint.

Sophomore guard Christal Caldwell (5-9) is averaging 11.6 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward Jessica Harlee (6-1) is averaging 6 points per game, 2 rebounds per game, and 4.5 assists per game. Freshman guard Linda Stepney (5-7) is averaging 4.5 points per game and 2.2 rebounds per game. Junior center Ayana Dunning (6-3) is averaging 6.7 points per game, 7.9 rebounds per game, and has 29 blocks on the season. Sophomore guard Brooke Hampton (5-9) is averaging 6.4 points per game, 2 rebounds per game, and 4.9 assists per game.

The Mountaineers get after the ball well, rebounds and dominating the paint area. USF likes to fire away from deep, but WVU also gets out on the perimeter to defend. The Bulls will have to control the pace of the game and make sure to rebounds and get their second chance points when they can. This is a key game for the ladies.
