James Ramsay Emerging in his Sophomore Season

James Ramsay is off to a great start this season (Picture:  USF Athletics)
The USF Bulls entered the season wondering where the power would emerge in their batting order and so far, the team is stepping up big, racking up the run total and the wins.  One batter, coming off of a strong freshman campaign is sophomore outfielder James Ramsay.

Ramsay had a strong freshman season for USF in 2011.  He batted .250 with 3 home runs, driving in 22 runs, stealing 5 bases and flashed the leather in the outfield.  As the season wore on however, he struggled down the stretch, not adjusting quickly to pitchers who didn't want to face him and would give him nothing to hit.

So far this season, he has made the adjustment and the numbers reflect his hard work.  He is batting .353 with 5 doubles, 2 home runs, 14 RBIs, and has 9 steals, switching from center field over to left field during the course of the season, still playing well in the outfield, with a fielding percentage of 1.000% and 0 errors on the score sheet so far (knock on wood please).

The offense has to continue to lead the way and support the strong pitching staff and it will be stars like Ramsay that will have to carry the load.
