Notes from First Football Press Conference of the Spring

From USF Football and Greg Auman- The Spring football practices begin tomorrow and Coach Holtz and company are ready to go as he addressed the media and brought everyone up to speed on a couple of notes before the team hits the field.

He stated that the team will be in shorts and shirts for the first day and Wednesday, but will switch to full pads on Saturday. Holtz stated he is ready to get back to work after a disappointing season, stating the team has to learn to finish games. He feels the new players who enrolled early and the returning group of seniors, could make this a special team. He also stated that the team would need to improve on the pass defense and special teams, but also stated that he is encouraged by the progress of the offense.

Holtz stated that there will be two spring games, the first on campus on April 14th and the second at Raymond James Stadium on the 21st.

Back-up quarterback Ryan Eppes is moving to linebacker. David Simon, the freshman offensive lineman that suffered several seizures a few weeks ago, has returned home to Alabama to recover and will not return to the team. We wish the best. Ricardo Dixon, the reserve defensive back that tore his ACL last season, will not participate this spring. Safety Jon Lejiste, wide receiver Chris Dunkley, and offensive lineman Thor Jozwiak will be limited in spring practices as well do to lingering injuries.
