USF Baseball Completes Sweep of Georgetown

As the ladies were sweeping Rutgers, the baseball team was following their lead as they completed their sweep of Big East foe Georgetown in the opening series of conference play with a 7 to 2 win.  USF is now 17-8 (3-0) on the year as they continue their strong play at home.

Matt Reed worked 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, and struck out one batter.  The bullpen was dominate once again.  Steven Leasure worked 2 innings, allowing 1 hit and struck out 2.  Nick Gonzalez worked 1 inning and struck out two batters as they closed out the game.

The offense came to life again as they continued to pressure the Hoyas pitching staff, getting runners on base and moving them across on strong hits.  Alex Mendez went 1 for 5.  James Ramsay went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and drove in a run.  Jimmy Falla went 3 for 3.  Andrew Longley went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs.  Kyle Teaf went 2 for 4 and Luis Llerena went 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs on the afternoon.

The Bulls will play against FAMU on Wednesday night at 5PM before they host Notre Dame over the weekend for the second Big East series of the season.  This was a great way to get the conference portion started for the Bulls.
