USF Baseball Drops Series Finale to Lafayette

The USF Bulls missed a chance to sweep the series against Lafayette as they fall 6 to 7 and to 14-7 on the season. The Bulls had a 3 run lead early in the game, but the Leopards had 14 hits as they took the lead. USF rallied, but came up just short in the 9th inning.

Matt Reed went 4.2 innings, allowing 9 hits, 5 runs, 2 walks, and struck out one batter. Adrian Puig went got one out, allowing a walk and a hit in between. Nick Gonzalez went 2 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and struck out 2. Austin Adams went 1 inning striking out 2 batters. Ray Delphey went 1 inning, walking 1 batter.

The offense came up just a little short, but battled and had 12 hits as a unit today. Alex Mendez went 1 for 3. Chad Taylor went 2 for 4. Jimmy Falla went 2 for 4, Kyle Teaf went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Luis Llerena went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Zac Gilcrease made his debut and made some noise, going 3 for 4 with a double and drove in two runs during the game.

The Bulls will face UCF on Tuesday night here on campus at 7PM. The Bulls lost the first matchup in Orlando, falling 1 to 12.
