USF Baseball to Take on Yale

The Bulls, 10-6 on the year, won 2 out of 3 games against Eastern Illinois over the weekend and will take on Yale for a single game as they look to continue their strong pitching and timely hitting (game starts at 7PM).

Yale is 2-6 on the season, coming off of a 1 to 2 loss to North Dakota State the other day, so they will be looking for the major upset in this game.

The Bulldogs are led by sophomore infielder Kevin Fortunato (6-4 230-pounds) who is batting .387 on the year with 1 home run and has 6 RBIs on the season.  Junior outfielder/1st baseman Josh Scharff (5-10 195-pounds) is batting .258 with 6 RBIs on the year.  Senior catcher (5-11 180-pounds) is batting .267 with 2 doubles.  Senior outfielder Charlie Neil (6-5 195-pounds) is batting .310 with 3 RBIs.  Freshman infielder David Toups (5-9 170-pounds) is batting .345 with 4 RBIs.  Watch for junior LHP Christopher O'Hare (6-3 195-pounds) is 1-1 on the year while working 10.1 innings, allowing 16 hits, 7 walks, and has struck out 8 batters.  Also look for junior LHP Nolan Becker (6-6 225-pounds) that has worked 6.2 innings, allowing 6 hits, 3 walks and has struck out 6 batters.

The Bulls have had great starting pitching over the weekend while the offense has been timely, but could get rolling against a Yale team that is not that strong.  Look for the Bulls to be aggressive early in counts and put the pressure on the Bulldogs.
