As the basketball team was winning in Dayton, the softball and baseball teams were in action last night as well. Softball continued its roll as they notched another win, this time over Canisius, 1 to 0. The 24th ranked Bulls had 9 hits in the game as they improve to 20-4 on the year.
Gina Kafalas was 3 for 4. Kourtney Salvarola was 1 for 3 with the lone run scored on the night. D'Anna Devine went 2 for 3 and Kenshyra Jackson went 2 for 3 as well. Sam Greiner pitched well in the start, working 4 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 4 batters. Sara Nevins finished the last 3 innings, finally giving up a hit but struck out 6 batters.
The ladies are rolling up the wins now and have a huge weekend ahead of them as they welcome Fairfield and Northwestern on Friday for the start of the USF Invite tournament. It will be the last big tournament as the Bulls inch closer to the start of conference play. The first game against Fairfield starts at 2:15 with the Northwestern game slated for 4:30 in the afternoon.

Derrick Stultz had a bit of a rough start in this game, going 4 innings, allowing 5 hits, 5 runs, walking 4 and struck out 3. The bullpen rose to the ocassion as they shut the door on Illinois State. Adrian Puig got one out via a strike out, Kyle Parker worked 1.1 innings, allowing 1 hit and struck out 1, Nick Gonzalez went 1.2 innings with 1 hit, 1 walk and 1 strike out and Ray Delphey slammed the door working 1.2 innings, walking 1 and striking out 1 to end the game.
The offense came to life in this game big time on the 13 hits. Alex Mendez went 1 for 1 with an RBI, a run scored and walked once. Chad Taylor went 3 for 4 with an RBI. James Ramsay went 3 for 4 with an RBI (continues to heat up in the middle of the order). Jimmy Falla went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Luis Llerena went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs as well as they Bulls exchanged runs early, took the lead, and didn't look back.
This was a solid mid-week win for the Bulls as they continue their solid play at home and are now 6 games over .500 on the year. The Bulls will host Lafayette College for a 3-game series beginning on Friday night starting at 7PM as they look to continue this solid streak of play.
