The USF ladies, 11-2 and ranked 23rd in the country, head to Clearwater for the USF Under Armour Invitational at the Eddie C. Moore Complex. After being 15th ranked Michigan on Wednesday, the ladies are hoping for a strong performance this weekend as they look to improve their record and continue their impressive start to the season.

USF faces Boston College to open the first game (scheduled to start at 2PM). Boston College is loaded with solid hitters and will be a tough opponent in the first game (has a 10-2 record to enter the game).
BC is led by senior 3rd/outfielder Ali Lynette-Krech. She is batting .517 with 6 RBIs. Junior pitcher Nicole D'Argento is batting .469 with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs. Freshman infielder C.J. Chirichigno is batting .467 to start the year. Senior catcher Brittany Wilkins is batting .414 with 2 home runs and 11 RBIs. On the mound, Nicole D'Argento is 4-1 (1.24 ERA) working a total of 28.1 innings, allowing 17 hits, walking 4, and striking out 26 (opponents batting .172 against her). Sophomore right hander Amanda Horowitz is 3-1 (4.34 ERA) while working 19.1 innings, allowing 19 hits, walking 10 and striking out 17.
BC is not a huge power threat, but will get runners on and has two solid pitchers. Expect a low scoring game here as each side has great arms to contend with, but the Bulls should have a little more firepower on the mound.

After facing the Eagles, USF will face Loyola Marymount in the second game of the day (game slated to start at 4:15PM, but could start later pending the end of the first game).
Senior third baseman/short stop Sam Fisher (5-10) is batting .566 with 10 home runs and 28 RBIs to start the season, so the Bulls have to watch for her. Junior 3rd baseman Skylar Seguar (5-2) is batting .383 with 10 RBIs. Junior outfielder Danielle Smith (5-4) is batting .345 wtih 4 RBIs. Senior outfielder Brittany Pereda (5-9) is batting .277 with 1 home run and 13 runs driven in. On the mound, junior right hander Molly Medeiros (5-6) is 8-2 (2.01 ERA) while working 62.2 innings, allowing 42 hits, walking 15 and has struck out 28 (.194 batting average against her). Junior right hander Dane Waldusky (5-11) is 3-2 while working 25.2 innings, allowing 41 hits, walking 4 and striking out 21 batters.
This could be a high scoring game with the number of bats Loyola has in their batting order and the ability for USF to take advantage of their pitching staff. The Bulls have to watch for Fisher and should be able to hold them down enough to get the big win. Hopefully the ladies can put it all together again and sweep the day to continue to build their impressive record at the start of the season.
