USF WBB Faces 18th Ranked DePaul in Second Round of the Big East Tournament

The USF Bulls had to hold on to the last second in their win the other day against Pitt (60 to 59) to advance to this round.  USF led by as many as 21 points against Pitt and now face the 18th ranked DePaul Blue Demons in the second round of the Big East tournament.

The Bulls (17-14 and 9-8 in league play) beat DePaul (21-9 and 9-7) earlier this season in Tampa 66 to 63 in an overtime thriller.  Jasmine Wynne, who had 7 points in yesterday's game, had 16 points in the Bulls win and Inga Orekhova, coming off of a 25-point game, had 11 points.  DePaul was led by Anna Martin and her 23 points, so the Bulls should expect another close game in the second round (game scheduled to start at 2PM).

Anna Martin, the junior guard (5-9) leads the team with 19 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, and has 50 steals on the season, leading the team on the floor with her shooting and defense.  Sophomore forward Jasmine Penny (6-1) is averaging 11.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game, has 20 blocks and 40 steals, showing how active she is in the paint (key for Rowe, Johnson, and anyone driving to the basket).  Freshman guard Brittany Hrynko (5-8) is averaging 11 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, totaling 56 steals on the year and leads the team with 114 assists on the year.

Junior forward Katherine Harry (6-3) is averaging 9.2 points per game, 9.7 rebounds per game, and has 41 blocks on the season (big time defender in the paint).  Freshman guard Megan Rogowski (5-9) is averaging 6.4 points per game and 2.5 rebounds game.  Senior guard Deanna Ortiz (5-10) is averaging 4.3 points per game and 2.4 rebounds per game as well.

This is going to be a tough game for the Bulls.  After coming close to defeat, the team should be refocused and ready for this game.  USF beat DePaul before, let's see if they can do it again.
