The USF Bulls, coming off the the big win over Michigan, the Bulls split the double header against their foes in the opening day of the USF Under Armour Invitational Tournament in Clearwater.
The Bulls won game one 6 to 3 over Boston College. Gina Kafalas went 2 for 3 with a steal and a run scored as she continues her great work at the lead off spot. Janine Richardson went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Laura Fountain went 1 for 1 with 2 RBIs. Ashli Goff went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs on an inside the park home run that opened the game up. Lindsey Richardson struggled a bit, going 1.2 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, walking 2 and striking out 2. Sara Nevins went 5.1 innings, allowing just 1 hit, 1 walk, and struck out 2 to end the game.
The Bulls had one rough inning in the second game loss to Loyola Marymount that was the game. USF had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th, but couldn't get the runners in, falling 4 to 6 in the second game and ending the day with a record of 12-3 on the year.
Gina Kafalas went 3 for 4. Kourtney Salvarola went 2 for 3 with an RBI. D'Anna Devine went 3 for 3 with her first RBI of her young career. Sam Greiner did well except for that inning. She went 4.2 innings, allowing 7 hits, 6 runs, walking 1 and struck out 2. Lindsey Richardson went 2 innings, allowing 1 hit, 2 walks, and struck out 5.
The Bulls will face Harvard at noon tomorrow followed by Miami (Ohio) at 2:15 as they wrap up the seris
