The Bulls returned home after their exhibition against the New York Yankees to face Savannah State in a key double header as the Bulls continue a huge home stand to start the year and the offense was on show.
In the first game, the Bulls rolled 14 to 4. Chad Taylor was 3 for 4 with 1 RBI. James Ramsay was 1 for 3 with his first home run of the season. Todd Brazeal was 2 for 3 with a double and drove in 3 runs. Daniel Rockhold was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. Andrew Longley was 1 for 3 with a home run and Jimmy Falla was 3 for 4. Derrick Stulz had a great start, going 6 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 run, and struck out 6. Austin Adams went 1 inning, allowing 1 hit and struck out 1. Janick Serrallonga went 2 innings, allowing 3 hits, 3 runs, while walking 1 and striking out 3 to end the game.
The offense continued to roll in game two, winning the night cap 15 to 4. Alex Mendez went 2 for 5 with a huge grand slam, driving in 5 runs total on the day as the offense exploded after being behind after the first two innings. Chad Taylor went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI, a steal, and scored 2 runs. James Ramsay went 2 for 6 with an RBI. Blake Sydeski went 3 for 5 with 1 RBI. Luis Llerena went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Joey Lovecchio went 6 innings, allowing 6 hits, 3 runs, and struck out 6. Steven Leasure went 1.1 innings, allowing 2 hits, 1 run, and struck out 1. He was tossed after plunking a Savannah State hitter. Ray Delphey went 1.2 innings to end the game, striking out one batter.
This was the offensive spark the Bulls have been looking for the last few games. The bats came to life and the long ball came to play in the game as well, racking up big time numbers as the Bulls improve to 6-4 on the year. USF will look to sweep the series tomorrow at noon.
