It's time for the final scrimmage of the spring and as the
Bulls prepare to hit the field under the bright lights of Raymond James
Stadium, Holtz and staff put out a second chart for the game. Remember, these are just spring depth charts
and a lot will happen between now and the start of the 2012 season, but it's
fun to take a look at it.
Offense - The offense put up 10 touchdowns during the
scrimmage on campus last week, let's see if anyone moved up the depth chart
after that performance or has stood out during practice (Note: Estenor,
Hawkins, Lejiste, Shields, Virgin and Welch will be held out, per USF
athletics)
Quarterback - BJ Daniels, Bobby Eveld or Matt Floyd
No shocker here at all.
The back-up position is still wide open and continues into the Fall.
Running back - Demetris Murray, Lindsey Lamar, Marcus Shaw
or Bradley Battles.
Lamar continues to get a lot of praise and his speed makes
him a great speed option. Battles, the
former 4-star recruit, could get another chance to get on the field and make a case for playing
time.
TE - Evan Landi, Jake Carlton
Landi is the proven senior, but interesting to see Carlton
get the nod over Virgin and Shields.
TE - Mike McFarland, Tye Turner
McFarland again makes the starting job and surprising to see
Tye Turner added to the spot.
Wide receiver - Andre Davis, Sterling Griffin, Chris Dunkley
Davis is still ahead of Griffin (motivation). It is good to see Dunkley added to the depth
chart.
Wide receiver - Ruben Gonzalez, Stephen Bravo-Brown
Gonzalez again is listed at the starting receiver position. Stephen Bravo-Brown is added this time, which
is probably just Holtz getting everyone into more game action.
Wide Receiver - Victor Marc, Terrence Mitchell, Derrick
Hopkins
No real surprises here.
LT - Mark Popek, Darrell Williams
No surprises.
LG - Damien Edwards, Brynjar Gundmundson
No surprises here (where Chandlor Mathews-York?)
C - Austin Reiter, Thor Jozwiak
Reiter has locked this position throughout the spring.
RG - Lawrence Martin, Steven Jacques
Daneous Estenor is getting better, but not for the spring.
RT - Quinetrrius Eatmon, Max Lang
First time seeing Lang's name added to the depth chart.
Overall, no real surprises for this depth chart. We will have to see how the offense plays in
this game. They have been confident
after putting up the numbers on the offense, so we will see who comes out ahead
in this contest.
Defense - The defense was angry after allowing the offense
to throw all over the field. Expect them
to come out in this game and put down some solid hits and send a message.
DE - Ryne Giddins, Tevin Mims
No surprises here.
DT - Elkino Watson, Todd Chandler
With Grissom out, Watson takes over as a starter. Look for Chandler to make some noise as well.
DT - Luke Sager, Clavion Nelson
Nelson is an interesting player to watch this season.
DE - Julius Forte, Eric Lee
With Hill out for the season, Lee will get a chance to
become a solid back-up.
SAM - Sam Barrington, Reshard Cliett
No surprises.
MIKE - Michael Lanaris, Hans Louis
First time seeing Hans Louis added to the depth chart.
WILL - DeDe Lattimore, Mike Juene
CB - Kayvon Webster, George Baker
SS - JaQuez Jenkins, Ernie Tabuteau
Jenkins is back healthy.
FS - Mark Joyce, Trevon Griffin
CB - Fidel Montgomery, Kenneth Durden or Joshua Brown
It's Montgomery's job to lose right now.
Special teams - No surprises here.
P - Mattias Ciabatti, Justin Brockhaus-Kann
K - Maikon Bonani
KO - Marvin Kloss
LS - David Burdetsky
Game starts at 6PM for those attending. Rainy conditions are expected for this one as
well, so be prepared for it and plan accordingly.
Once again, this is the depth chart heading into
this second scrimmage (provided by USF athletics). Holtz may or may not provide a second depth
chart after the game.
