After a 70+ minute rain delay tonight, the Bulls came up just short to Louisville, falling 5 to 6 to the Cardinals. The Bulls are now 26-13 (10-3) on the year and had their chances in this game, but just couldn't stop the Cardinals from scoring late.
Andrew Barbosa got the start for the Bulls. He worked 6.1 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk, and struck out 8. He sat through the long rain delay but was able to come back out and continue to attack the strike zone. Austin Adams worked 1 inning, allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, and struck out 2 (not his best outing). Andrew Loynaz worked .2 innings, striking out 1. Adrian Puig worked two thirds of an inning. Kyle Parker worked one third of an inning, allowing 1 run and struck out 2.
The offense did enough, but couldn't come up late in the 9th inning. Alex Mendez went 1 for 5 with a run scored and drove in one run. James Ramsay went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Jimmy Fall went 1 for 4 with an RBI and Kyle Teaf went 2 for 4.
The Bulls will try to take the field tomorrow at noon (weather is a huge factor). They will look to rebound after this performance and continue to battle for the Big East regular season title.
