Recapping a Busy Weekend for USF Athletics

The weekend is over (sadly) and it was a busy one for USF athletics as several teams were in action.

The football team took the field in their second scrimmage of the season, first at Corbett in front of the fans.  The Bulls looked solid on offense, all three quarterbacks had their highlights as well as the receivers like Andre Davis and running back Lindsey Lamar.  The defense had a few solid moments, but has some work to do after allowing some deep passes and committing a large number of penalties.  USF will play its last scrimmage of the season on Saturday night under the lights of Raymond James Stadium.  It's free for everyone so prepare your tailgate and enjoy a great night of USF football.

USF women's tennis defeated DePaul over the weekend, improving their overall record in conference play to 4-1.  They are set to host the Big East tournament next week.

Men's tennis took their final regular season match over Middle Tennessee on Friday, 5 to 2, closing out the regular season.  They will enter the Big East tournament next week with some momentum.

The USF baseball team took two out of three games against Pitt over the weekend, running their record to 25-12 (10-2) on the season.  The Bulls got some solid pitching from Barbosa on Friday (although a loss) and the bullpen came up big as well as the offense.  The Bulls will head to Daytona to take on Bethune Cookman for one game before finally returning home to host Louisville over the weekend.  USF sits in first place in the Big East with the Cardinals right behind them, so it will be a critical series for both sides.

The USF softball team had their 19-game winning streak come to an end, but they took two out of three against UCONN to improve their record to 40-6 (13-1).  The Bulls showed their offensive firepower yesterday as they totaled 11 runs to win the rubber game.  The Bulls will host Louisville on Wednesday for a double header game that could determine who will win the Big East regular season title.
