Final Regular Season Home Series for USF softball

It's the last home stand of the regular season for the USF ladies.  They have had a tremendous season so far and have a lot of softball ahead of them, but it's right to honor the seniors that will be taking the field for the last time in the regular season.  Let's see who the senior class as thank them for everything they have done to make this one of the most successful programs at USF.

Laura Fountain - 5-4 - UT - Cooper City, Florida (Cooper High School)

Fountain has been a solid player over her entire career, sitting behind the plate, anchoring the pitching staff and coming up big at the plate as well.  In 2011, she batted .261 (45 games) hitting 4 doubles, 3 triples, drove in 21 runs and stole 7 bases as well.  This season, she has raised her battling average to .280, has 2 doubles, 1 triple, has driven in 15 runs and has 4 stolen bases.  She continues to do a tremendous job behind the plate and will be missed when she leaves.

Gina Kafalas - 5-6 - OF - Tampa, Florida (Chamberlain High School)

Kafalas, one of the best to ever take the outfield, will be missed after she leaves.  The great outfielder has been a staple at the top of the batting order for her entire career.  Last season, she batted .359 (led the team) while hitting 1 double, drove in 8 runs, and has 24 steals (led the team).  This season, her batting average just dropped a little, down to .305.  She has 2 doubles, 1 triple, 12 RBIs, and has stolen 12 bases.  She is a great outfielder and despite the slight drop in average, she continues to be a constant hitting machine at the top of the batting order.

Jessica Mouse - 5-7 - 3B - Tampa, Florida (LSU) (Chamberlain High School)

Mouse is playing in just her first season as a Bull after spending most of her collegiate career at LSU.  The Tampa native made a name for herself in the SEC.  She was named all defensive team and drove in 25 RBIs in her last season.  This year, she has anchored the hot corner for the Bulls at third and has been clutch at the plate. In her only season, she is batting .286 with 3 doubles, 3 home runs, and has driven in 26 runs.  While the offensive numbers, they don't show how valuable she is on defense and the type of leadership she brings to the field.

Alexis Nowell - 5-3 - 2B - Wilmington, Delaware (Caravel Academy)

Nowell has been a great player her entire career at 2nd base, playing solid defense and coming up with big hits when called upon.  Last season, she batted .216 (50 games) with 4 doubles, 1 triple and drove in 15 runs. This season, she has battled a concussion that limited her playing time, but she is batting .188 with 2 doubles and has driven in 9 runs.  She is healthy late this season and will be a factor on offense and on defense down the stretch.

Janine Richardson - 5-5 - OF - Auburndale, Florida (Auburndale High School)

The power hitting outfielder has done it all for the Bulls during her career.  Last season, she batted .348 with 5 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, drove in 44 runs and stole 18 bases.  This season, she is batting .314 with 8 doubles, 1 triple, 7 home runs, and has driven in 27 runs while stealing 17 bases.  She is a great outfielder that has found more power in her swing this year.

We thank all the seniors for everything they have done during their careers at USF.
