USF Softball Sweeps Double Header Against Villanova

The USF Bulls took on Villanova for a big double header as the season comes to the end.  The team was able to take both games on the strength of their pitching staff as they improve to 43-8 (15-3) on the season.

The Bulls did just enough on offense in the first game, beating Nova 2 to 1 with a little scare in the 7th inning.  Sara Nevins worked the complete game, going with a no-hitter until the 4th inning.  She allowed 5 hits overall, 1 run, 3 walks, and struck out 7 batters.  The offense did just enough to get the big win.  Gina Kafalas went 2 for 4.  Ashli Goff went 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Janine Richardson went 1 for 3 with a run scored.  Laura Fountain went 1 for 2 with an RBI and scored a run as well.

In game two, Lindsey Richardson took the mound.  She worked 4.2 innings, allowing 2 hits, and struck out 3 batters.  Sara Nevins worked 1.1 innings in relief, allowing 1 hit and struck out one batter (moved to right field after that, strange, but it worked).  Sam Greiner got the last two outs of the game (allowed one walk) as the Bulls got the sweep.  Gina Kafalas went 1 for 3 and scored a run.  Janine Richardson went 1 for 2 and scored 2 runs.  Kourtney Salvarola went 2 for 2 and scored 3 runs in the game as well.

This was a great day for the Bulls as they look to end the season on a very high note.  They have 43 wins and will now look to complete the sweep of Villanova tomorrow at 1PM.  Make sure to get out to the park and watch the ladies.
