USF Baseball Heads to Daytona to Take on Bethune Cookman

After taking two out of three games against Pitt over the weekend, the Bulls remain on the road as they take on Bethune Cookman for a one game match-up, taking a break from Big East play.  USF is 25-12 (10-2) on the season, but lost 2 out of 3 against Bethune Cookman back in Tampa earlier this season.  BCC is 23-14 (12-3 in the MEAC) this season and is an impressive 16-5 on the year at home, so the Bulls will be facing a real tough challenge in this one (game slated to start at 6PM).

BCC is led by senior Jairo Acevdeo (5-10 195-pounds) who is batting .350 with 6 RBIs in limited at-bats.  Senior infielder Brashad Johnson (6-1 215-pounds) is batting .315 with 1 home run and has 21 RBIs on the season.  Junior outfielder David Lee (6-4 205-pounds) is batting .310 with 2 home runs and has 23 RBIs on the year.  Junior outfielder Brandon Turner (5-8 165-pounds) is batting .276 with 11 RBIs and has 10 steals on the year, getting things done on the bases.  Sophomore 1B Anthony Stokes (6-3 250-pounds) is batting .292 with 9 home runs and has 30 RBIs on the year, providing the power in their batting order.  The Bulls have given up a few runs in the past few games and will face another challenge in this one.  USF's bullpen has been strong, so look for them to keep the game low scoring.

The BCC pitching staff is anchored by junior RHP Gabriel Hernandez (6-0 195-pounds) who is 4-1 on the year with a 2.76 ERA.  He has worked 49 innings, allowing 44 hits, 17 walks, and has struck out 30 batters on the season.  Junior RHP Jordan Dailey (6-0 215-pounds) is 4-4 on the year with a 3.54 ERA and has 7 saves on the season.  He has thrown 23 innings, allowing 30 hits, 5 walks, and has struck out 19 batters.  Senior RHP Rayan Gonzalez (6-4 210-pounds) is 6-0 on the year with 1.77 ERA.  He has worked 56 innings, allowing 44 hits, 11 walks and has 50 strike outs on the season.  BCC has a strong pitching staff that will challenge a red hot USF hitting lineup.

This is going to be an interesting game.  USF is playing well after taking 2 out of 3 against Pitt, but BCC took 2 out of 3 against USF earlier this season in Tampa.  USF wants to get another strong win, but playing BCC won't be easy.  Expect a real challenge in this game.
