USF Baseball Takes on Stetson Again

The USF Bulls take a break from Big East play as they hit the road to take on in-state foe Stetson for the second time this season.  The Bulls, 23-10 (8-1) on the year, lost the first game against the Hatters in Tampa 2 to 6.  They will look to pay them back, but the Hatters are a tough foe.  They are 21-10 on the year and play well at home.  Let's see how they will fair in this game (game starts at 6:30PM).

The Hatters are led by junior infielder Ben Carhart (5-11 180-pounds) is batting .344 with 1 home run, 6 doubles, and has 23 RBIs on the season.  Junior catcher/infielder Sam Kimmel (6-0 180-pounds) is batting .322 with 1 home run, 7 doubles and has 18 RBIs.  Senior infielder Robert Crews (6-0 185-pounds) is batting .314 with 1 home run, 16 RBIs, and has 6 steals on the season.  Junior outfielde/1B Mitchell Brennan is batting .287 with 2 home runs and 21 RBIs to round out a loaded and talented hitting order that put 6 runs against the Bulls.  USF has to keep them off the base pads and watch for the power they showed in the last game.

The Hatter pitching staff is led by senior RHP Lindsey Caughel (6-3 175-pounds) who is 4-1 on the year (3.94 ERA) while working 45.2 innings, allowing 56 hits, 6 walks, and has 45 strike outs on the year.  Senior RHP Robbie Powell (6-0 180-pounds) is 1-0 with 8 saves on the season while tossing 21 innings, allowing 14 hits, 5 walks, and has struck out 18 batters (hard to come back late in games against this guy).  Sophomore LHP Cameron Griffin (6-1 185-pounds) is 2-0 while tossing 16.2 innings, allowing 13 hits, 9 walks, and has struck out 23 batters.

The Bulls have struggled against in-state opponents but have been playing well recently and will look to carry the momentum of sweeping Cincinnati over the weekend as they head to Deland, looking for another big win.
