USF Baseball Upsets the Gators

The Bulls hit the road to take on the 4th ranked Gators and came away with a huge upset win, 5 to 3, handing the Gators only their second loss to a Florida school this season.  The Bulls are now 28-14 (11-4) after this huge win.

Matt Reed was strong, working 5.2 innings, allowing 7 hits, 3 runs, and struck out 1.  He was cruising until the 6th inning when the Gators rallied to tie the game, but the Bulls bullpen was able to take over and work their way out of trouble against a star filled Gator lineup.  Andrew Barbosa got one strike out.  Austin Adams went 1.1 innings, allowing 1 hit, 1 walk, and struck out 3 batters.  Nick Gonzalez worked 1 inning, allowing 2 hits, and 1 walk.  Steven Leasure got the last two outs, allowing just one walk in the 9th.

The offense struck first and was able to come up late in the game to get the win for the pitching staff.  Jimmy Falla went 2 for 5 with an RBI.  Andrew Longley was the big bat in the order, going 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and drove in 3 runs on the day.  Kyle Teaf went 1 for 3 as well.

The Bulls will return to Tampa to host Villanova over the weekend for a huge series in the Big East standings.
