USF Brings Out the Bats, Waits Out Rain to Beat Pitt and Keep Season Alive

The Bulls busted out their bats, taking a 6 to 0 lead in the third inning before a long rain delay forced both sides to sit out for nearly 3 hours.  Once the rain cleared (entire area was drenched yesterday) the Bulls continued to swing the bats, winning the game 12 to 5, keeping the season alive.  USF is now 35-21 on the season.

Derrick Stultz got the start for the Bulls, working 2 innings, allowing 2 hits and struck out 1 batter before he had to sit out the rain delay, ending his night.  Joey Lovecchio took over for him, working 4.1 innings, allowing 5 hits, 4 runs, and struck out 5 batters.  Janick Serrallonga took over for him, working the last 2.2 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 run, and walked 3.

The offense came to life early and often against Pitt, racking up the hits.  Alex Mendez went 2 for 6 with 2 runs.  James Ramsay went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and drove in 2 runs.  Jimmy Falla went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs as the team kept up the pressure and made sure this game was far out of reach for Pitt.

The Bulls will have to wait to see who they face today.  UCONN and Louisville were forced to delay their game (originally slated for 8PM) until today.  USF will face the loser of that game today at 6PM.
