Eriksen Wins World Cup with Team USA

Just a couple weeks ago, USF Softball coach Ken Eriksen led the Bulls to their first ever Women's College World Series. After being quickly eliminated from the tournament, Eriksen's work was far from over. He stuck around in Oklahoma City for a while, this time coaching for the USA national softball team in the World Cup of Softball, a six-team tournament featuring the best softball teams in the world.

Alabama pitcher Jackie Taina, fresh off a national championship at Alabama, pitched a one-hit shutout in a 5-inning run rule victory over Puerto Rico 8-0 in the first game. USA gave up one of just two runs of the entire tournament in game 2, where they beat Australia 3-1.

The Americans then cruised to victories over the Netherlands (2-1), Canada (9-0), and Brazil (9-0), before meeting Australia again in the final. The highlight of the game was when UF outfielder Michelle Moultrie laid down a bunt, and it turned into a home run. In another one-hit shutout victory, Team USA and coach Ken Eriksen raised the trophy in triumph as they are undoubtedly the most dominant softball team in the world.
