USF Volleyball Hits the Road to Take on NC State

After winning their first game of the season in 5 sets vs. UCF on Sunday, USF, 1-2, take on NC State in the first game of the NC State Invitational tournament (game begins at 7PM).  NC State, coming off of a win over the College of Charleston on Sunday, is 3-0 on the season, the first time since 1995 and will be looking to improve its record and build on its 20-13 campaign from 2011.

NC State is led by sophomore outside hitter Nikki Glass (5-10) who totaled 12 kills and 9 digs in the last game.  Sophomore outside hitter Dariyan Hopper (5-10) had 15 kills in the last game (teaming up with Glass, the Wolfpack have a solid 1,2 punch at the net).  Senior setter Megan Cyr (6-0) had 44 assists, 4 kills and 8 digs in their last game, setting up the finishers at the net.  Defensive specialist/libero Alexa Micek (5-8) had 14 digs and 4 assists.  Freshman middle blocker Megan Cormier had 2 kills and 3 digs.  Junior middle blocker Meredith Richardson had 12 kills and 6 blocks to round out their strong team.

The Bulls will play two games tomorrow as part of this tournament, facing Evansville at 10AM and then Saint Louis at 7PM as they try to get going on the road and notch some big wins.
