USF Volleyball Takes on UCF in the USF Invitational Tournament

Let's do this.
The lady Bulls take to the court again as they play their third game in as many days in the opening tournament of the season, the USF Invitational.  After facing Wisconsin and Creighton the first two days, the Bulls wrap up the tournament with in-state foe UCF.

USF, 0-2, is looking for their first win and the first win in a set under new head coach Courtney Draper.  The ladies are close to breaking through, but the Knights pose a huge challenge (game starts at 11AM).

UCF, sitting at 0-2 like the Bulls are, are coming off of a 20-11 (12-8) season where they went 6-5 away from Orlando.  Among those 20 wins was a 3 to 1 victory over the Bulls, so the ladies will be looking to repay the favor early in the season (game begins at 11AM).

The Knights are led by junior Angelica Crump (6-3) who totaled 499 kills last season, along with 50 digs and 49 blocks.  So far this season she has 21 kills.  Senior Evija Vilde (6-1) had 382 kills last season along with 116 assists, 205 digs and 50 blocks.  This season, she has 14 kills, making her a finisher at the net with Crump.  Senior Tory McCutcheon (6-2) totaled 162 kills, 21 service aces, 57 digs, and 98 blocks.  She has 2 kills and 11 assists so far.  Senior Meredith Murphy (5-8) had 408 assists and 515 digs last season (controls the center of the floor). This year she has 9 assists, 2 service aces and 29 digs.  Sophomore DeLania Sarden (6-1) had 205 kills and 89 blocks last year and has 16 kills and 3 digs to round out their top players.

For the Bulls, this is another great test early in the season, especially against a quality foe like the Knights.  The Bulls have struggled in all phases of the game so far this season and are still looking for the elusive first set win of the year.  If the team can put it all together they should be able to hang tough with UCF and hopefully notch a win in the last day of the opening tournament.
