USF Outlasts UCF in 5 Sets to Notch First Win of the Season

The Bulls, after failing to win a set in the first two games, battled UCF for 5 sets on their way to the first win of the season.  USF, now 1-2 on the year won (23 to 25, 27 to 25, 25 to 19, 23 to 25, and 15 to 13).  The ladies had a chance to put it away in the 4th set, but the Knights fought back to extend the game to 5 sets where the Bulls were able to outlast them and give head coach Courtney Draper her first win at the helm.

The Bulls had their starts shinning in this game.  Andrea Rodriguez Gomez notched 12 kills and 4 digs.  Erin Fairs had 17 kills and 11 digs.  Wylie Devlin had 33 assists and 9 digs, helping run the offense.  Valerie El Houssine had 20 kills and 15 digs as she begins to heat up.  Shelbey Bleke had 6 kills and Claudia Cabrera had 28 digs and 3 assists in the game as well. 

This was a hard fought game for the Bulls, but they earned it and finally broke through after a few tough first games to open the season.  The Bulls, now 1-2 on the young season will next hit the road to face NC State in the NC State Invitation starting on Friday night at 7PM.
