USF Men's Soccer Takes on Akron in a Huge Game

The USF men’s soccer team takes the field in the second game of the University of Akron Tournament.  After allowing Butler to tie a game the Bulls had wrapped up (at least we thought, sending the Bulls to 4-1-1), the Bulls will rake on host Akron (3-1-2), ranked 9th in the nation, in one of the biggest games of the young season (game begins at 7PM).  Akron had a scoreless tie with St. John's on Friday night in their first game of the tournament.

Akron is led by junior midfielder Eric Stevenson (5-8 145-pounds) has 2 goals and 1 assist on the season.  Sophomore midfielder Scott Caldwell (5-8 145-pounds) also has 2 goals and 1 assist to balance out a strong front line attack for the Zips.  Freshman midfielder Dillon Serna (5-7 135-pounds) has 2 assists and helping set up the offense in his first year on the field.  Sophomore defender DeAndre Yedlin (5-8 145-pounds) has 2 assists as well.  Freshman forward Alfred Koroma (6-0 160-pounds) has 1 goal and 1 assist. Overall, the Zips have a strong team with a mix of veteran players and a lot of young, talented players.  They are getting a lot of playing time early and they will make life tough for Osswald and company.
In the net is senior goalkeeper David Meves (6-1 195-pounds) has allowed just 5 goals on the season and was able to shut down the Red Storm in their last game.  Meves is a senior leader and will have the backline correctly in position and will challenge the USF offensive attack.  This is a huge game for the Bulls and they need to come out strong in this one, but expect a low scoring affair here.
