The ladies, 1-3 on the season, will be facing two teams today as they look to bounce back from the tough loss to NC State last night. They will need to correct their mistakes and get back on track (first game begins at 10:30AM in the morning!)
Let's start with their first game of the day, VCU (game begins at 10:30AM). VCU is 4-0 on the season and will pose a huge challenge for the ladies in this game.
VCU is led by freshman middle-blocker Martina Samadan (6-5), she has 36 kills on the season with 5 digs and 26 blocks (big threat at the net). Senior middle-blocker Jasmine Waters (6-4) has 32 kills and 3 digs. Freshman outside hitter Romana Krokova (6-3) has 28 kills, 10 blocks, and 48 digs, moving all over the court. Sophomore setter Cecilia Aragao (5-11) has 152 assists and 25 digs on the season, setting up the offense, getting everyone set up (setter, set up, get the joke?) Senior outside hitter Anaett Farkas (6-2) has 28 kills and 29 digs. VCU is a solid team that just like NC state, is talented and will push the Bulls to the limit. They will need their best game in this one to get the job done.
In the second game, the Bulls will face Kent State (game begins at 5PM). The Golden Flashes faced NC State at 1PM before facing the Bulls (stats reflect their game before facing the Wolfpack).
Freshman outside hitter Kelly Hutchinson (6-1) has 45 kills and 6 digs, getting off to a great start in her first season. Sophomore middle blocker Tin Aderemi-Ibitola (5-9) has 36 kills and 23 digs for the Flashes, doing it all. Junior setter Alekisandra Nowak (5-11) has 9 kills, 125 assists, and 23 digs. Senior middle blocker Kathy Krupa (6-1) has 22 kills and 3 digs as well. Kent State is struggling to find their rhythm like the Bulls are so this will be a great chance for the ladies to get a big win and get out of Raleigh with some momentum.
