The USF Bulls, 2-4 on the year, are back on the road again as they take on Southeast Missouri State in the first game of the Saint Louis Tournament. The ladies, coming off of a tough 5-set loss against Kent State in Raleigh, take on the RedHawks who are 4-3 on the year so far (game begins at 4:30PM).
The Redhawks are led by junior outside-hitter Colleen Yarber (6-1) who leads the team with 75 kills, 5 service aces, and 86 digs on the season. Junior middle-blocker Emily Coon (6-2) has 63 kills, 2 digs, and 25 blocks (big time finisher at the net). Junior setter Julie Shives (5-8) has 29 kills, 249 assists and 69 digs. Sophomore middle-blocker Kelsey Keeve (6-1) has 44 kills and 12 digs. Junior outside-hitter/libero Berkley Idel (5-11) has 16 assists and 115 digs on the season to round out their squad.
The Bulls, led by Valerie El Houssine who has 82 kills and 73 digs, Kayla Walton who has 43 kills, and Andrea Rodriguez Gomez who has 47 kills, have to be the anchors for the team and keep the sets close and finish strong at the end. They let the game against Kent State get away from them, but showed promise there and were strong against VCU. They need to continue that rhythm and get a big win here.
